This guide attempts to develop a clerics ability to use the Druid calling effectively  in both open world and raid situations.The Druid should use a two handed hammer while attempting to  stay at melee distance during an entire fight unless forced away. They should call forth and bring a pet of that complements there play style: melee combatant, ranged combatant, soothing healer or a tanking pet depending on the circumstances of the fight. They will keep Eruption of Life on there enemy at all times while using combat abilities such as  Resounding B;pw, Combined Effort and Essence Strike. Every once in a while they will use a powerful ability called Fae Mimicry which enhances there life bound attacks and puts forces of Natural Force on a target which is in turn changed to Natural Weakness by using Nature’s Edict which if used correctly adds yet another 35% damage.

A Druid is a powerful offensive melee combatant who exists in harmony with the forces of nature. They are able to call forth uncorrupted fae from the plane of life to serve as bodyguards, heal their allies and destroy there foes.

Pros and Cons of this build. 

  • One of the highest possible damage dealing roles for Cleric
  • A relatively simple yet not it is not a “1 button rotation”
  • Choice of Tank, Damage or Healing Pets
  • A popular fun class among many new Rift players
  • Capable of soloing almost any open world content
  • The rotation needs to be completed in a certain order for maximum damage
  • Almost all damage is melee only
  • High damage play is limited to one pet
  • This is only really a damage spec in group play

Playing the Build for High Damage

The Different parts of the rotation are:

  • Opener: Used before other abilities, these abilities place the proper DoT’s and Debuffs on a target
  • Normal Rotation: This uses the highest damaging abilities on the shortest cooldowns
  • Cool Down Block: This is a block that is only used when Fae Mimicry is on cool down
Opening Sequence
Crushing Force Doubles Nauture’s Edict      Deals 6359 to 7028 damage. Deals 14611 Earth damage over 15s. If this effect is on the target, the damage bonus from Nature’s Edict effect is doubled.
Punishing Strike
Resounding Blow 150% damage to target for 15s, increses next abiltiy  Deals 3179 to 7028 damage. Increases damage done by the Cleric’s next damaging ability, within 10s, by 50%. For 15 seconds, the target takes 100% increased Life damage from the Cleric.
Eruption of Life  Reduces Resounding Blow cool down by 1.5s over 15s up to 6 times  Deals 3178 to 3513 Life damage. Life Surge deals an additional 3355 to 3708 Life damage, and reduces the cooldown of Resounding Blow by 1.5s, each time the Cleric hits the enemy over the next 15s, up to 6 times.
Fae Mimicry Add extra damag for 5 attacks, next two no GCD. Add 5 Natural Force  Causes the Cleric’s next 5 single target damaging abilities to deal additional Life damage equal to 125% their initial damage. Does not affect damage over time effects or abilities from souls other than Druid. Lasts 15s. Causes your next 2 Cleric abilities to not trigger a cooldown. If cast with a target selected and within 30m, applies 5 stacks of Natural Force to the target in addition to its other effects.
Nature’s Edict Convert Natural Force to Natural Weakness, increasing damage by 7% per stack       Deals 6339 to 7007 damage. Consumes all Natural Force stacks on the target. Each stack of Natural Force that is consumed in this way applies a stack of Natural Weakness to the target. Each stack of Natural Weakness on the target increases the damage that the druid deals to that target with Druid abilities by 7%.
Essence Strike Damage, Refresh Eruption of Life      Deals 11105 to 12274 Life damage. Refreshes the Cleric’s active Eruption of Life on the enemy.

Normal Rotation
The Normal Rotation used is quite simple. It consists of keeping 3 Damge over Time abilities on the target and then pressing one spam button.

3: (If Off) Nature’s Edict: 30s CD, use after Crushing Force and before Fae Mimicry.

Cool Down Block

This relatively small sequence should be used whenever Fae Mimicry is not on cool down which is every 30 seconds. Right before you start this rotation you should make sure that  Crushing Force has sufficient time left on it so that it does not wear off before these spells are done

Open World Play

This build, with current Tier 2 Raid Gear, can solo almost anything in open world with little problems.  If you are not spec-ed with raid gear, or are not a raid build oriented person, you can customize this build a bit so that it can take a little more damage in open world like the following..

As you can see we have taken more points into Justicar to receive more healing from damage we do and are also to put mandate on your pet. The rest were chosen for a solo play style that is convenient to that person.  What you may notice is we did not take all 61 points in Druid. This is because many times the mobs hp is so low that we do not have time really to utilize Fae Mimicry. This is just an example of what can be done and should not be taken as the most optimal as open world many times depends on style of play. Because the style can vary so dramatically there are other abilities you may want to be familiar with.

Fae Extraction Teleport enemy to the players location
Hidden Path Cleanses all curses, diseases and poisons
Peace of the Forest Restores 10% at 7% hp cost
Shield of Oak Shields the druid
Slumber Puts target to sleep for 10s
Strength of the Fae Reduces Druid and Pet damage by 50% for 10s

Changes in how to play:

  • If in an full damage spec attempt to fight just one enemy at a time
  • For pulling multiple packs the Greater Faerie Healer is typically the best as its heals for a solo Druid are often more than enough
  • Watch your hit points, use healing/shielding spells when necessary
